昨年30周年を迎えた留学支援の業界団体JAOSは11月12日を「留学の日」と制定致しました。
明治4年11月12日（旧暦）、大山捨松、津田梅子等、日本初の女性国費留学生5人が岩倉使節団とともに
日本を出発し留学先に向かった日です。それまでエリート男性だけの特権だった留学が初めて女性にも機会が与えられたということで、
留学が本格的に日本人に開放された象徴的なこの日を「留学の日」に制定しました。
日本は古くは紀元600年ごろから、遣隋使で中国に派遣された小野妹子など、海外に留学生を送り出し、
多くの留学帰国者が日本の成長に寄与しています。
現在、益々、世界が一体化する中、日本にとってグローバル人材の育成が大きな課題になっています。
留学経験を通じグローバルで活躍し日本に貢献する人材を今後も多くを輩出するために、
JAOSは「留学の日」を制定し、留学の啓蒙に尽力していきます。
「留学の日」設定記念イベントJAOS留学アワード授与式を開催
JAOSは日本における留学の啓蒙に貢献した人を顕彰するためにJAOS留学アワードを作り、
「留学の日」である本年（2022年）11月12日にJAOS留学アワード授与式を初開催致します。
JAOS留学アワードは選考委員会（メンバーは下記）が留学にかかわりのある社会活動家、タレント、You Tuber、企業経営者、アスリートなど様々な分野から受賞者を選考する「ノミネート型アワード」と、「人生に大きな影響を与えた留学」をテーマに一般応募の留学体験者からアワード受賞者の選考する「公募型アワード」の2種類で選考致します。「公募型アワード」では、3名に優秀賞として賞金10万円、そして6名に特別賞として1人賞金3万円が支払われます。

- 一次選考結果は９月末までに通過者全員にメールでお知らせします。最終の選考結果は２０２２年１１月１２日にイベント内で発表し、その後受賞者にはメールもしくはお電話でお知らせ致します。

横浜市立大学卒。ニュージーランドでの1年間の海外生活を機会に、帰国後、英会話講師を経て株式会社留学ジャーナル前身であるICS国際文化教育センターで留学カウンセラーの職につく。名古屋支店長を経て、2001年よりプロダクトマネージャーとしてプログラム開発等に従事。2003年1月同社取締役就任。現在、同社代表取締役副社長として、また留学ジャーナル編集長として、日本人の海外留学促進に努めている。JAOS認定留学カウンセラー、国家資格キャリアコンサルタント。
Graduate of Yokohama City University. After spending 1 year in New Zealand, Yukari Kato worked as an English conversation teacher before taking on the role of study abroad counselor at Center for International Cultural Studies and Education, the predecessor of Ryugaku Journal, where she later became head of the Nagoya office. In 2001 she became involved in program development as Product Manager. In January 2003, she became a board member of the company. She is currently Executive Vice President of the company and Chief Editor of ‘Ryugaku Journal’ magazine, and works to actively promote studying abroad to Japanese people. Qualifications: JAOS Certified Counselor, national level career consultant qualification.

1968年生まれ。幼少期をアフリカとアメリカで過ごした帰国子女。筑波大学卒業後、銀行員を経て97年にタリーズコーヒー日本１号店を創業。翌年タリーズコーヒージャパン（株）を設立し01年株式上場。07年、同社社長を退任。同年、世界経済フォーラムのヤンググローバルリーダーに選出される。10年、参議院議員選挙当選。16年議員任期満了後、再び起業・経営者に。Eggs ‘n Things他、飲食チェーンの運営を中心に、AIを活用したDX事業、自然エネルギー事業なども手掛ける。2022年6月より、公益財団法人 日本国際連合協会 理事。
Born in 1968. Kota Matsuda is a so-called ‘returnee’ who spent his childhood in Africa and America. After graduating from University of Tsukuba, he worked in a bank before establishing Japan’s very first Tully’s Coffee store in 1997. The next year, he founded Tully’s Coffee Japan Co., Ltd. and in 2001 made his stock market debut. In 2007, he was named a Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum. In 2010, he was elected to Japan’s House of Councillors. After completing his term in 2016, he returned to business start-ups and running companies. His main field is the restaurant business, such as Eggs ‘n Things, but is also active in DX business involving the use of AI, and the field of natural energy. Since June 2022, he is a board member of The United Nations Association of Japan.

富山県生まれ。1969年東京大学卒業、総理府入省。内閣広報室参事官、統計局消費統計課長、男女共同参画室長、埼玉県副知事、ブリスベン総領事などを経て、2001年 内閣府男女共同参画局長。2004年から昭和女子大学大学院教授･女性文化研究所長、2007年から昭和女子大学学長、2014年から学校法人昭和女子大学 理事長、2016年 昭和女子大学 総長（理事長兼務）、現在に至る。著書には300万部を超える「女性の品格」、「70歳のたしなみ」「幸せな人生のつくり方」など多数。
Born in Toyama prefecture. After graduating from The University of Tokyo in 1969, Mariko Bando joined the Prime Minister’s office in Japan. After serving as Counselor in the Cabinet Public Relations Office, Director of the Consumer Statistics Division of the Statistics Bureau, Director of the Gender Equality Office, Deputy Governor of Saitama Prefecture, and Consul General of Brisbane, she became Director General of the Gender Equality Bureau, Cabinet Office in 2001. Professor and Director of the Institute for Women’s Culture at Showa Women’s University since 2004, Academic President of Showa Women’s University since 2007, President of Showa Women’s University since 2014, Chancellor of Showa Women’s University (concurrently serving as President), 2016 to present. She is the author of many books, including “Josei no Hinkaku” (A Woman’s Dignity), which has sold more than 3 million copies, “70-Sai no Tashinami” and “Shiawase na Jinsei no Tsukurikata”.

1970年、神奈川県生まれ。「トビタテ！留学JAPAN」発起人、元プロジェクトディレクター。幼少期をアルゼンチン、高校時代をブラジルで過ごす。上智大学卒業後、伊藤忠商事株式会社に入社。2000年、株式会社ウィル・シードを設立し、学校や企業、自治体に体験型教育プログラムを提供。世界経済フォーラムの「ヤング・グローバル・リーダーズ2009」に選出される。15年、文部科学省中央教育審議会臨時委員。特定非営利活動法人「TABLE FOR TWO International」ファウンダー。公益社団法人「MORIUMIUS」理事も務めている。
Born in 1970 in Kanagawa prefecture, Chikara Funabashi is a founder and former project director of “Tobitate! (Leap for Tomorrow) Study Abroad Initiative”. He spent his childhood in Argentina and high school years in Brazil. After graduating from Sophia University, he joined ITOCHU Corporation, and in 2000 established Will Seed Inc. to provide experiential education programs to schools, corporations, and local governments. He made the list of WEF Young Global Leaders in 2009. In 2015, he became an ad-hoc member of the Central Council for Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. He is a founder of non-profit organization “TABLE FOR TWO International” and also a board member of Public Incorporated Association MORIUMIUS.
